Pets Animals and You on Horse Tail Trails silhouetteWelcome to Horse Tail Trails' Pets, Animals & You!

Pets, Animals, & You is a branch of Horse Tail Trails.  We are devoted to providing interesting and unique recipes for the animals in your life.

Horse Tail Trails knows how important our pets and animals are to us.  They are a part of our family, and living in Northern New Mexico, our animals may also be our livelihood.

Furry family members; cats, dogs, horses, goats, cows, etc. effect our lives more than we realize.  They give us purpose, love, hope, and help relieve stress (most of the time!)

Even wild animals coexist with us in our backyards.  Daytime songs of birds and moonlight serenades by coyotes; hawks and snakes keeping our rodent population down; bats dining on those pesky mosquitoes.  We’ve all had our fair share of animal encounters.

Pinecone Bird Feeder

Fun for kids to make and to watch, this natural bird feeder may become a favorite hangout for your feathered friends right outside your window.

You Will Need:
Pine cone
Peanut butter
Birdseed or bread crumbs
Butter knife or spoon
String

•    Tie the string around the pinecone.
•    Use the knife/spoon to spread peanut butter over the cone
•    Roll the covered cone in birdseed or breadcrumbs
•    Hang the feeder outside near a window or in a tree.
•    Watch to see who will eat from it.

P.S. If you can’t find any pine cones, try using a bagel!
